Micro-plastics at sea: a MACRO problem!
By the Institute for the Study of Anthropogenic Impacts and Sustainability in the Marine Environment of CNR
Participants with IAS researchers/machines will take part in a seawater sampling to detect the presence of microplastics. Sampling will be carried out using an innovative filtration system. The sample will then be examined using the microscope and the sorting technique will classify the microplastics by shape, color and size. It will be possible to discover how plastic interacts with organisms and the surrounding environment. Thanks to the microscopes it will also be possible to observe some of the organisms bred at the CNR IAS laboratory on which researchers study the effects of microplastics in the marine environment. It will be visible with a video an extract of the exhibition “Water the Future is in the Ocean”.
Duration: 2 h
Target: all
When: 27, 28 and 30 June at 10.00 and 14.00
